Re: Injection Pump problem too
I thought it was fixed. Last night I ran Diesel Purge through it. The pump wouldn't draw it in so I bottle fed it. Still nothing was happening until I saw a dribble of liquid on my vacuum gauge line. That wasn't supposed to be there. I disconnected the tubing for it, went back to the stock set-up fo...

Re: Injection Pump problem too
Thanks for the ideas guys. The fuel lines and the fuel tank aren't really in the picture at the moment. I'm attempting to run the engine from a glass container of fuel. The fuel intake hose is disconnected from the filter. It goes from the IP direct to the fuel a distance of a foot and a half. I wan...

Injection Pump problem too
I suspect my injection pump on my '89 1.6 has stopped pumping. It was rebuilt at a Bosch Service center 15 months ago and been working great. Running dino-diesel ever since. Last Friday it coughed a couple or three times as I was going down the road starting off for work. I turned around and brought...

Re: Introducing myself
Good looking Jetta. You're going to enjoy it. I wonder how much it would cost to paint it. I'd like to get mine painted too.

We all knew this day was coming. Still, it's very sad news. Rest in peace Hagar.

Re: fuel efficiency conundrum
I agree that 100% BD yields a bit less MPG. When I run 100% petro diesel it improves by 5% or 10%. I've just never seen 50 mpg. I'll try driving 60 mph for a few days and see what it does for it.

Re: fuel efficiency conundrum
I'd like to see 50 mpg. What speed do I need to drive to get this kind of smilage? I regularly get 44.4 to 44.6 mpg. One time I got 44.8 mpg. I drive 70 to 73 mph on fairly flat roads. 64 miles per day round trip x 5 is 320 miles per week. Another 80 miles per week is in town stop and go.

Re: No fuel from the IP out
Yes Fatmobile, I had all the small tubes hooked up to the injector barbs. As a test I pulled the one that was connected to the small nipple that is on the "out" banjo. This showed fuel was pumping out the IP while the engine was running. What's this about fuel will flow so fast...............

Re: No fuel from the IP out
I've been wondering about that. The "new" out bolt I'm using is from a 1.6 turbo I-P off an automatic shift car. I think the number is 068 130 107 AQ. Instead of one tiny little hole about .010" diameter, the old one, it has I think two or three holes that are each about .094" di...

Re: No fuel from the IP out
Success! Right on the money Coke! I didn't pull apart the internal screen but I happen to have a different out bolt. It worked. The different one is from the turbo pump (for an automatic) that I had on the shelf. It has larger holes and allows plenty more fuel to pass back to the tank. IP runs at a ...

No fuel from the IP out
My Injection Pump has been rebuilt, by a certified Bosch Service Center. The engine runs good. But, I get no fuel flow out the pump "out". Nothing seems to be going back to the tank. I do get fuel coming out of the tiny fitting that the injectors overflow tubing goes to. It comes out the s...

Pop Pressure Specification
Hi all,
Can someone tell me the spec for Pop Pressure for the injectors for my 1986 1.6NA? I imagine there is a small range of pressure that is considered good.
Thanks.
