Hagar, I did test the battery as you told me to. Checked voltage at the battery before and during cranking. (in 2 vehicles)

How do you explain that I do NOT get a voltage drop when I unplug the connector? How would a battery have ANYTHING to do with that?

It turned out that the cleaning of connectors and started didn't help much. At first it felt like it did...

AFAIK there is no starter relay, the solenoid is just that, a relay.

OK hagar, I tested the battery. It was fine, 12.76V with no load. Put it in my Pug and got 11.3V while cranking (GP's on too). Now back to the problem, and that's hidden somewhere in the 10-15 wires going to that connector plug I've mentioned earlier. I borrowed a fuse box from a friend and it behav...

Hagar, if the battery was indeed the problem how come I don't get a voltage drop when I pull the blue connector at the back side of the fuse box? I'd row to Stockholm but it's 220km and rowing on dry land is not my cup of tea! All three batteries work fine, the other two came from my Peugeot and my ...

OK, ran some more tests and made some progress! There's a wire from the battery to the fuse box and from the terminal next to it the same colored wire contiues to the ign switch. I have battery voltage at the ign switch. As soon as I turn the key the voltage drops, no matter where I measure it. I fo...

Electrical gremlins again...Wiring diagram??

I thought I had fixed my slow starter when it turns out there's something else wrong in the electric department :( The battery voltage drops from 12.55V to 10V as soon as I turn the key, then it continues to 9,8,7 and stops at 6V when I crank the engine. I have tried 3 different batteries. I've trie...

Starter getting sloooow....

The starter has been turning slower and slower lately, the other day I cleaned all the connections, ground and positive leads and it helped a bit. Today I took apart the starter and man, was it full of crap!! I put the parts in diesel for a while and cleaned them thoroughly before I put it all back....

OK, in Sweden the rear bumber is only the two pieces with nothing in the middle.
Our trailer hitch is fastened in the frame rails, I found a picture where it can be seen:

I think the middle step section looks good, I'll put that on the to-do list :D

Is the center piece with the three holes stock?
My Caddy doesn't have it, maybe it has fallen off

I agree, the coolant temp subject is interesting. I have always imagined that a diesel engine want's to run as hot as possible, well not quite that hot but hotter than a gasser anyway. I was amazed by the rating of the thermostat for my Peugeot, 83C  I've forgotten the rating of a VW diesel b...

When the signals stay solid and don't flash, this can often mean that the hazard light switch is not working. Do you have it disconnected? If it's not connected the turn signals do this exact thing. Try switching in a spare if you have it. x2 happened to me too, took a while to find out it was a fa...

Oh, you posted a reply while I was typing :)
I only had a heat gun and it was just hot enough to get the new bearing in so maybe around 200-250C whatever that is in Fahrenheits.

I cut mine, not all the way thru though, and used a punch to break it. A chisel will do the trick too, maybe even better than a punch.

The Eco-diesel is not the best engine to start with, the turbo is probably a Garret T2 (tiny) and the injection pump doesn´t have boost enrichment (LDA). The IP has a 8mm head, I think the full turbo has 9mm. I ran my Eco @1.2bar of boost, increased the fueling and advanced the ignition a bit, it w...

Keen observation. I do have a boost gauge on the way (ebay style). This was a driveway test. I just went out and turned the max fuel screw in a little so I'll go on a test drive and check it out. When I receive the boost gauge I'll have solid numbers to give. Off I go! It's normal to hardly see any...
