Re: Long time no see :) Engine ID quiery
Turns out it was a real turbo engine. But the car was sold as an n/a so it's pretty much illegal to put a TD in it without going through a lot of paperwork. I might still buy it and convert back to a n/a if it's in good condition. Reg the T4's I think they had a 1.9 TD IDI with a mind boggling 68hp ...

Long time no see :) Engine ID quiery
Hi guys! I haven't been here for years, been lost in the world of TDI's lately :) Now I have developed a craving for a VW IDI again and have noticed that there's very few Golf/Jetta diesels on the market, quite sad considering how many still were on the roads just 5-10 years ago. Anyway, I have foun...

Re: tdi or idi what do you people like better???
Our TDI has 280 000km on the clock and runs like new, only had to replace a temp sensor and the glow plugs other than regular maintenance items. Fuel economy is great and there's lots of power compared to an old 1.6D. For a daily driver I like the TDI much better but a Caddy pickup 1.6D is nice in o...

Sounds like your low pressure pump doesn't draw any fuel to the IP, otherwise the air bubble in the inlet would go away. How that happened over night I don't know... You could test it by bottle feeding the IP as suggested earlier or putting a low pressure lift pump somewhere and force feed the IP. I...

Hi Hagar, I haven't written anything for a while but I'm glad you still keep on writing.
Forget the Volt, I think you should start saving for the new electric Golf instead:

It could be the temp sensor, it's located at the back of the engine (between engine and gearbox), a square connector with 4 wires. Unplug it and test if the car starts better. If not, does it crank fast enough? The TDI needs 250rpm to start fueling, so if your starter runs a bit on the slow side you...

So diesel+ATF+ethanol+acetone = good fuel additive? Well you already have a tankful of diesel........ Yes but the amount of the other ingredients is so small that if I pour them in the tank they´ll probably just lube the filling tube  Mixed in diesel they are easier to handle. If the ac...

Yes, it has both the cold-start idle control cable (which is controlled by the ECU via a vacuum-fed electrovalve), and a cold-start timing advance device - again controlled by the ECU via an attached solenoid bolted onto the timing housing. Thanks, that makes sense. Wonder why they are both wired t...

Does your IP have a electric cold start mechanism? I would like to know how it works, never seen one before... http://forumbilder.se/images/572200931553Pf262.jpg It's just wired to the shut off valve. The pump nr is 460 494 218, it's off a Ford 1.8 n/a. I'm putting that IP in my dads Escort van and ...
