Oil Dip Stick Tube..... Grommet/Seal?
What type of seal is used for the oil dip stick tube, to the block, on the 1.6 N/A diesel? I have put a few shade tree fixes on it but, none of them seem to last more than a few months. I would like to know what the factory or best way to fix this problem is. Thank you for reading and for any replies.

CENTER CAPS FOR 1986 VW GOLF
I am in the market for a set of 4, hub caps for 1986 VW Golf. They are approximately 5 3/4 inches wide and 1 1/8 inches deep. I have a set, but they are dented beyond repair. Thank you, Charles.

Thank you for the info.the man 53 wrote:The newer autos are complete junk. Usually only get 150,000 out of them. Usually it is the forward gears, but I would suspect similar for the reverse. Most with autos usually get a manual to swap rather than replace the auto. Cost is about the same usually.

No reverse, 2001 Jetta TDI
Hello guys and or gals. I have a chance to purchase a 2001 Jetta TDI with 250,000 miles for $2700.00. It has lost reverse. As far as I know, it just quit going in to reverse. It has ALL forward gears. Is there anything other than catostrophic failure, that would cause it not to go in reverse, such a...

Re: Speedometer works, but odometer does not..
VWCaddy and Quantum TD; thank you both for your information/help, on the odometer/trip meter. They are now repaired and working properly. I was surprised at how simple it was to perform the repair, once I got started. All in all it took about 45 minutes to remove the cluster, make the repair, and re...

Re: Speedometer works, but odometer does not..
That thread is for Rabbit. Golf is similar, but may use a soft METAL gear on the end. If you have the metal gear, you need to remove the gear, pinch the hub-bore hole (I usually hit it in 3 places with a nail-set to pinch the metal a bit), and then press it back onto the shaft. 1986 may still be in...

Try turning the max fuel screw near the stop solenoid above the fuel highpressure lines anticlockwise a little... Or apply pressure 2 ft, slower...[/quote]
That sounds practicle enough. Thanks.

Re: How do you adjust the fuel pump pressure?
The pump pressure is critical to performance and mpg because of it affect on dynamic timing, I have read through the Internal pump pressure post many times in my efforts to adjust my jetta for best mpg. If I try to bring my pressure up to 3bar at Idle I get major marbles mid range rpm. I can only t...
