Drive flange spring missing??
I took off my output flange to replace the seal and remove a broken axle bolt, The bolt wouldnt budge so I went to the wreckers and pulled a flange off another trans but the thing is ...The new flange had the spring affixed to it so I thought my spring would be behind the seal but it`s not there. No...

Drive flange snap ring removal question
I`m in need of a tool for removing the snap ring. I thought I read about a home made one here but cannot find it. The assortment of snap ring pliers I have don`t want to get a bite on the snap ring. Any help appreciated. Thanks and happy new year.

Re: Brake lights issue
Correct me if I`m wrong but I thought the brake switch was a ground to turn on the brake lights. I cant imagine them using 12V+ running through a brake switch but wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. If it is a ground then just running a ground to the out side of the switch should light up the ta...

Re: '82 pickup question?
Just a though here but you need the hard plastic factory fuel line from the filter to the pump . It may work perfect with a short soft hose from an IV bottle but as soon as you try and draw fuel through 10 feet of 1/4 inch fuel line plus filters and screens it will collapse a lesser hose.

Front end alignment question
My 79` was always a little off on the front end camber so when I removed the Bilstein`s and installed a set of stock assemblies my toe in changed. I have been messing with the passenger side alone to try and get it right. My wheels are level but here is the problem. If I get the steering wheel strai...

Re: Alternator Bracket Insert?
That`s a problem with play between the alternator flange and the mount. With the alternator out and looking at the mount there is a screw in bronze or brass bushing om the right, the left has a bushing as well but it should move in as the bolt is tightened squeezing the bushing against the alternato...

Re: should i use copper coat on my head gasket?
There is some controversy on this but do yourself a favor and don't use it. It may not hurt but you dont need it because your gasket already has a bead of sealer on it. Just be sure you have a clean flat dry surface. Minor pitting shouldn't be a problem.

Not shure what front struts inserts for the FrankenRabbit
Hey Guys, A few months ago I went to the wrecker and bought two front struts off A Cabriolet for my 1979 Rabbit coupe. I didnt think to ask the year of the car but they fit my 79`fine except the spring length was a couple inches too high and I had to use my old springs with them. I was recently shop...

Re: 1980 Rabbit not starting
I agree..Sounds like glow plugs. If one is out it is a little noticeable, two is noticeable ,three out and its a struggle to start. . Be sure and check the Glow plug fuse on the firewall first(to the left of the brake cylinder). When I check them I just pull the copper power strap that connects them...

Re: anyone know the Bosch number for diesel starters?
Thanks for the advice. Funny thing is I pass Akram nearly every day. Turns out I have a lifetime guarantee on the starter and my parts store replaced it no problem. The new rebuilt starter looks a little different probably just an older model starter but it seems more familiar (right) then the other...

Re: Where should I start to get an unrunning 81 rabbit runni
Yea..them glow plugs are vital to starting. Check the glow plug fuse on the fire wall first ,make sure it isn't blown and is getting 12 volts. I checked my glow plugs by removing the little 8MM nuts on each one then pulling the copper strap back ,using a multi meters Ohm setting to check for continu...
