no HEAT out of VENTS but everywhere else?

Hey Guys, 81 Rabbit So I just replaced my blower motor, got it from a junkyard for 11 bucks!, and it works perfect, hums like new. Anyways, the problem that I'm having, is that there is no heat coming out of either of the middle vents. I do have very strong heat coming out of the defrost and lower v...

Yeah. Mine runs the same way. Smooth once some idle is on it. Once the engine warms up, it tends to run more smoothly as well. I'm not going to worry about it. It's still a good idea to time the IP though.
Thanks guys!

WTB. speedo gauge

Hey guys, I am looking for a speedo gauge off any year that would correspond with an 81 diesel. I would just need the actually speedo itself, or if you have a whole instrument panel with tach that would be sweet too

Let me know Soon!!!

Thanks,

I pressed the mounts in myself. I put in the new ones like I saw how the old ones went in. But for kicks, how can you tell they are in right. And how can you tell if the mount is failed? The rubber is broke? Well, I'm glad it's my car and not something else! Huh, I guess I'll have to inspect around ...

All of my motor mounts are brand new. If I put a pen in the glove box it dances all right. I'll have to check and see that the mount is tight, maybe it loosened up since I put the engine back in.

how much VIBRATION is normal?

Hey guys, So my Rabbit vibrates pretty bad at idle. I attributed it to it being over 26 years old and a diesel. But then my buddy who used to own a diesel way back when took a ride with me and kind of made a big deal about mine vibrating badly. So, how much vibration is normal? Diesels ARE going to ...

Where is the voltage regulator? I just checked for fuses, and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I DID take out the instrument cluster last night to fix the trip/od cog. Just to clarify, there is only 1 wire harness that plugs into the back of the instrument cluster right? As in, in total, on a 198...

FUEL gauge/ TEMP gauge failure simultaneously

Hey guys,
What would cause a fuel gauge and temp gauge failure simultaneously? I'm thinking fuse, but when I checked the Bentley, it didn't mention a shared fuse for fuel and temp. I'm going to go start pulling fuses right now. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Headliner: HOW TO?

Hey guys,
My headliner sucks. I'm planning on recovering it asap. What are some things to consider when taking it off?

What needs to be removed?

Any tricks, suggestions, words of wisdom?

Thanks in advance!

master cylinder inner diameter wrong

So, check this. I took off the master cylinder, well, actually had to yank it off because it was stuck!? Reason: The inner diameter of the barrel was tapered where the original one was not. What does that mean? The pushrod was engaging too early. And actually slightly drove into the metal, which is ...

Wait a minute. So I just searched for "brakes" on the forum and noticed something a bit interesting about the brake booster. So, that little rod that comes out of the booster and that goes into the master, should it just pull out? I though I read something about it screwing in? Hmm. . .

brake drag, light out?

Hey guys, So last night coming home, the brake pedal started to get higher and tighter. A few blocks from my house, I started to smell burning brakes! When I pulled in my driveway, the front two brakes were dragging considerably. This morning, I went outside to see if there was a pressure build up i...

"When the brake is off, the wire is grounded to the body and the body acts as the other wire. When the brake is on, the connection is broken and the light's supposed to go off. The light must be getting grounded through some other path." Wait, isn't it opposite? When the brake is on, the s...
