overheating
Several years ago replaced the 1.9aaz with a brand new aaz with the modified crank. Everything new and the motor ran about 15 degrees warmer than the old motor. People said the motor was tight, and that was the problem. Sensors changed, voltage stablizer in the dash, thermostat, even though these pa...

AAZwhiteish blue smoke

Does it somewhat after warm and restarting after sitting for 15 mins or so. Does not burn any oil or use any water. What would you suspect 1. Leaking injector...

ignition switch replacment.
Having done several of these you must remove the collar to get to the screw. This can not be accessed by just pulling off the plastic trim. I used a bearing seperator, which looks like to large "C"'s They clamp over the collar. Then using a puller attached to the bearing seperator pulled o...

Waterpump replacement 1991 jetta td without aircondition
Having just finished doing a water pump on a 1991 Jetta td. It is much easier to replace the entire pump than just the front half, and not much more money. The following list may help someone. It is not a difficult job. When you remove parts use a baggie and label if you are not sure where parts may...

hard to start
When you removed the lines you may have bumped the 12 volt wire that powers the solenoid on the injection pump. Use a test light to make sure when cranking over you have 12 volts at the wire, and the wire is firmly on the injection pump.

Clean your battery posts and the ground and charging leads. Had the same problem and dirty ends were the culprit.

injectors

I had to take one injector our of a damaged head so I didn't soak as outlined and used an air impact. Three came out but...
