What I meant by "head plunger" was "distributor piston"; that's what's broken. I think my extra pump has a good one.

The 5w-40 sounds fine, especially if it says it's for a turbe diesel truck. I can't say about the filter - usually there is a water outlet port on the bottom of the filter, if it's made for diesel applications. Pixie would like some new blood.
