Vacuum Pump?

Post by MizPahPAH »

I installed a new oil pump on my 86 1.6na Is there supposed to be a seal at the bottom of the vacuum pump to seal the oil pump shaft going into it

Fatmobile's project post he shows a seal at the bottom of the Vacuum pump if so does anyone have a part number?

I think the only seal would be the O ring at the base of the vacumn pump.

Yup there's a seal at the bottom as well as the o-ring on the side... I just happen to have one in my glove box... will get you the number next time I'm at my car!

Is this a seal which is held in place by the oil pump or something, because I've never seen a seal come out on or under the shaft of either the old or newer style vacuum pumps when I've removed them to run the oil pump counter-clockwise with a drill to oil an engine?

Thank you Vince

Taking a closer look at both the oil pump and the vacuum pump there is a lot of wear on both slots where the pumps fit together so looks like I should hunt up a new vacuum pump..

Anyone know if new / rebuilt pumps come with the seals

I was going to give Jack a call to see if he has any

It's very likely a dealer-only type part... that's where I got mine.
