I just found a steal of a deal on the above car. I've had the car all of 2 days now. I drove it 200 miles yesterday with it getting about 33mpg. I know on our old 86 non-turbo the mechanic's manual says that if it gets anything below 45mpg there is something wrong with the fuel system. What kind of mpg should the 2000 be getting?
On a side note I plan on replacing the fuel filter immediately. If that fixes the problem, I'll post up, but I'm not optimistic that it's just the filter.

You should get no less than about 40 MPG mixed traffic with an auto trans. About 42-43 with a manual trans.
If you have no leaks and the car seems to run fine, then your injection pump timing could be off. Even though the dynamic timing is electronically controlled, you still need to set static timing of the pump.
