Hey all,
My buddy is getting rid of a 8v Gas engine for scrapyard and I would like to know what parts I can snag to put on a 1.6NA Diesel. I read somewhere before, but dont remember where. If I remember correctly an exhaust manifold can fit into a diesel, Cams and Cam shaft maybe?
Just trying to get info thats all.

intake and exh mani, valve cover, oil baffle if it has one, oil pan, misc brackets and bolts, alum housings for the front and rear main seals might be the same.
Can't go wrong with spares, anything easy to take off grab. :)

If it's got the metal t-stat housing snag it, and maybe the coolant connections on the head too, not sure if they're the same.

Oops I quoted you haha, but no the blocks are different. You might get the diesel guts into the diesel block (not sure) but the diesel block is tougher. I would guess that the deck height is different.

I also heard the 16 valve, 1.8 has the same stroke (I know this isn't the engine you found, I just have some trivia locked up that needs out :D )

The crank from one of those might work,...
but they bore the blocks out to over 80mm so the block is useless.

Digi II,.. I did use an airbox from one of them on a Rabbit,.. that was converted to dig II.
No double-stacked banjo bolt for the vacuum gauge connector.
No vacuum switch for a warning light/beeper.
Hmm, what does the digi II have that's useful to us?
