As is the norm with old cars all of the bleeders broke in the wheel cylinders, except one. So I buy a wheel cylinder. (9 bucks) So I'm bleeding and bleeding and bleeding but still getting no fluid to the rear wheels. I've seen some brake flex hoses clogg of in the past and mine were very weathered a...

I fixed the brakes pretty easy (cheap too!) I had saved the backing plates complete with brakes, wheel cylinders and park cables off my parts car and I just transfered the whole backing plate. Wish I'd have saved the grease cap and washer. Looks like the Previous owner (hereafter referred to as PO) ...

Brake Saga
Ever since I bought my Jetta I've always thought the rear brakes were a little weak. The park brake only worked barely and since I could see the left cable broken below the handle I figured that was why the park brake hardly worked. Along with some other work I decided to fix the rear brakes. I'm us...

Using bug trans it would be difficult but very doable. 1. It would bolt to trans easily with adapter plate that is easily available. 2. Engine would need a crossmember and mounts built. The size of all the I4 stuff would make it necessary to have the rear of the car cut off like a baja, with no deck...

Long delay. I realized I had a non-turbo switch in there. The non-turbo switch is 1.8 bar and the turbo switch is 1.4 bar. My theory is the oil line to the turbo uses (looses) a little oil pressure so turbo takes a different switch. With the new switch installed problem is 10X better but the ...

Yesterday I was able to pinpoint the circumstances that my light starts flashing. (note: before replacing the switch it would flash immediatly after passing 2000 rpm's and continue to flash till the car was shut off.) At steady accel at 2100-2200 rpm the light will start flashing. If I coast or stop...

In a previous post I wrote: WOOO--HEW! Car is fixed! SAGA is ended. My saga has not ended. :( The oil pressure switch was wrong, and was causing my light to flash as soon as the engine reached 2000 rpms after it started flashing it would continue until car was restarted. THat problem is gone but......

Re: Diesel low oil buzzer
JSMCLAUGHIN What I'd really like to know is where is the little buzzer located so I could rip it out! The buzzer is on the OPCU (oil pressure control unit). The first page of this thread has a picture of the instument cluster and the OPCU is listed. The buzzer is pictured in the 3rd page of this th...

Just a side note. If I had never tested a thing and just bought a new DYNAMIC switch and installed it, it would have fixed my problem, but only if I was lucky enough to get the right one and get it installed in the right position. How would I have got the right ones and known where to put them if I ...
