Well this sucks!

This forum has been the best place for a DIY'er to get great first-hand information than anywhere else I have been. Good practical applications of knowledge gained from study and experimentation. And we have had the privledge of reading the back-and-forth discussions which only bring more knowledge ...

back to old hose

Well, after repeated attempts to stop the ever-present bubbles in the line from the tank to the filter (minus the water separator), I went back to the old lines. Still have the new clear nylon lines from the filter to the pump, and out of the pump to the return line to the tank. Taking out the water...

lines

As I still have the old black lines, I may just put them back in, and use the clear lines in the engine compartment, along with the suggestion to have slip-overs on the connections. It is nice to be able to clearly see what the heck is going on with the fuel flow. It is worth it to have to change th...

A report back

I am very grateful to receive a suggestion from you Hagar. Your willingness to impart your knowledge is the sign of a charitable and concientious soul. Now for the report. I moved the full stop screw back to where it was when I got the pump back from the rebuilder. On the trip across the state I set...

fuel economy

As the car is set up now I get around 45-48 mpg with this Jetta, and that is with driving 55-65 in hilly country. I do not drive hard, unless going on a long trip, at which time will keep it around 70 mph. My first VW diesel was a 1986 Jetta 1.6L n/a that got 52 mpg day-in and day-out no matter how ...

fuel screw question

1.6L TD, recently rebuilt pump. Following the directions of several here, I am now attempting to improve my fuel smileage by turning down the full power screw, located above the shut-off selenoid. I have loosened the locking nut and turned the screw a bit counter-clockwise, and re-locking the nut. M...

Great forum

Well, you certainly came to the right forum for help. The most interesting thread has been watching Hagar's grow; he really hit a nerve, and we all gained an important library, when he began those short few years ago. And that's the way the internet has been so very helpful; connecting people. I hav...

Thanks to all

Especially you Vegenator. You were very helpful. And I had forgotten how the windshield washer connections worked. Simple solutions work best.

clamps. etc.

I wondered about the vinyl and its' survivability with diesel, but figured it would work for a while, in case I needed to replace it later. My goal was to eliminate the water trap. I do not see a need for it in my area, and besides, I use a diesel additive which is supposed to absorb water (learning...

Thank you

Thank you very, very much. I will be making a change, and soon. The last thing I need is to have fuel all over the road, like a mini Valdez. Blessing to you.

teardrop wheels

I purchased 4 teardrop-style wheels form a 16V Jetta a while back, only to find one of them is bent. Wondering if anyone may have an extra, and if so, what is your price? Thanks.

Interesting problem

Rebuilt my turbo pump and installed it last week. Replaced the line from the tank to the filter, from the filter to the pump, and from the pump to the tank with 1/4" ID clear hose. Had a time getting all the connections to seal to keep out the bubbles; still having a tiny issue on the line from...

my turbo wastegate is stuck closed, will this cause damage to the turbo? I ask because it seems quite stiff. Thanks.

extra question

Is it possible to check the blow-off valve for accuracy when out of the vehicle? How far in should the screw that holds the spring be into the valve? Thanks.

blow-off valve question

I pulled my turbo injection pump for a rebuild and found quite a bit of black, black oil in the tube leading into the blow-off valve. Is this normal?
