Re: 1.6 Not running well.

If you've never opened a pump, trying on a spare is a good idea so there aren't any surprises.

Re: Starting swap today..

I work in a steel fabrication shop so welding is free. :) How much pressure is applied to the cluster from the cable? Well, the Jetta is gutted, that cluster took up a lot more time then I had originally thought it would. Tomorrow work and then try to finish.. might not be finished til later this we...

Re: Starting swap today..

EFF!! Oh MY GAWD!

NEVER would I wish pulling the damned pedal cluster on anyone!! And once I got it out, it's cracked! Right under where the clutch cable ride through that sleeve. Can I just JB weld it back together, or should I get it welded? Or does it have to be replaced?

Re: Starting swap today..

Trying to eliminate some work here.. I have a mk3 fuel tank removed from an AAZ.

Are mk3 and mk2 tank interchangeable..? wouldn't have to drop the tank off the Jetta this way.

Re: Starting swap today..

Alright, so far I have the gas engine out of the golf. Pulled all the sensors and computer wiring. Almost pulled the TD engine from my Jetta, just needs the shifter linkage removed from the transmission and I'll pull it out. Anyone know the best place remove the linkage from on the tranny? Just goin...

Oh yeah... forgot about that. So I can just plug the holes for now? I'll probably just try to make one of the PS delete loops when I get some time. Do you know the size of the nuts?

Re: Starting swap today..

Well, if I have the manual rack.. may as well just swap it out then don't have to buy the loop and wait for shipping. :P

Thanks though.

Starting swap today..

Alright, I got a Mint 92 Golf, 2 dr. It's a gas/automatic and starting swapping it for a 1.6TD.

So, the 92 has power steering my 85 obviously didn't. In the processing of deleting it, would you swap the steering racks? What's the best way to change that out?

Re: New heater blower for 1980 dasher w/ac?

I agree. When the resisters start to go usually I find you'll be losing selections in the fan speed. Like only having 3 and 4.. etc. If you experienced something like that before it just wouldn't turn on I'd test the resistor.

Re: 1.6 Not running well.

You could try swapping it for one of those other pumps and see if it's the same problem. That's pretty easy.

Re: Rough running when engine cold

I got a quick question about cold starts with the older pump without the increase throttle cold start. I pull my lever, works fine, got er timed up just right.. but when cold the car wants to idle around 7-800 rpm. Kinda rough idle.. once it's hot it's idling nicely, but at 1000rpm. Should my idle i...

Re: Unthinkable..

I plugged the hose coming off the blowout valve, and plugged the hose going into the intake. Hope that's sufficient. I still need a boost gauge.. are there any cheap solutions for the time being? I'm going to pick up a manual boost controller today. Is there a walk-through around here for which hose...

Re: 83 Quantum Troubles

You can try local diesel/fuel injection shops, bosch dealers, or you can find them online.

Here is a how to on rebuilding the IDI injectors. Replacing nozzles and lapping surfaces, makes them as good as new.

Re: Unthinkable..

Nice pics. I got the car running nicely with the NA injectors installed. I'm going to pick up a manual boost controller tomorrow, I realized I don't have a deep 27mm socket so I can't swap the injectors yet.

Re: 83 Quantum Troubles

In more fuel.. that's why the collar is there.. so you can't turn it in too far without taking it off. Awesome diagram Tyler. That's great. Never know the inner working of the screw until now!
