No, it doesn't pull on the accelerator. It moves a lever inside the pump that increases the idle speed. I also thought this was how it worked until I read my Bentley. :) Point taken; but either way its pulling on something that pulls on the sleeve and my point is that a faster running engin...

Its plenty fun, but I've played around with all the different settings on this pump and I still can't get it to start right when its warm. I almost thought it was low compression, as the engine has 260k on it, but if I pull the cold start lever out it always starts right up. Which makes me believe ...

That's all interesting info Hagar. It is remarkable how much fuel flows through such a small orifice in the "out" banjo. Looking at the pressure relief and how small those little holes are, led me to believe it was only pressure relief, but I do find it believable that the pump operates i...

$122.50 USD. Snap-On, brand new. I also got a very fancy timing light to go with it. The timing light will give a digital readout of RPMs also. :D Nice for calibrating those stoch tachs. Also has a function so that you can advance the strobe any number of degrees you want and the light will strobe ...

oh hagar. BTW, I found a diagram of the LDA/ADA. The guide pin appears to be in the bottom half. I noticed there are 4 or 6 screws on the very top of the spaceship device, or ADA. Do I need to remove that or the whole top half of the injection pump? How easy is this pin to see? Just remove ...

Re: pump timing

Hey Coke, I have the same question as Andrew. Why can't you advance the timing any farther? It sounds to me like your timing is retarded too. No more advance? It's simply because of the reaching of the end of the slot in the IP pump bracket. Thus slip the clamped [on cam] belt off the IP pump ...

Re: Old guy Old Rabbit.

hagar goes on TUNING. ----on a Rabbit Turbo 1.6L -----ECO mode first. --(small line pulled off manifold) Turning the IP is about to be done. ---under Hillbilly - TUNING --there is NO WAY to advance pumps too far. --- the slot in pumps is about 0.75 inch US. ----deduct diameter of bolt --and you hav...

Ah I see that Shalyn still suffers with that TDI....A diesel martyr for sure  H'mm not many views on vane pump serviceability... What do you see in your pile of pumps 'H' ? Back to my theory of over 'bar'ing of the injectors n/a to TD is 37lb of extra force at the IP piston... I was trying to...

 OK call me stupid but... What wears on the vane pump in the IP? Looking at those great 'French' pics: The low pumping/lifting can surely only be due to grooving on the end of the vanes or bore or a thinness of the rotor. Wouldn't it be easier to shim it with PTFE or tin or WHY. Rathe...

What exactly does n/a mean....I don't have one of those fitting anywhere on my 107 pump. I do have the return banjo and what not just not that fitting. Pardon my stupidity. Thanks Normally Asperated ie no turbo to shove air down its throat... Should be Atmospherically /Asperated in my oppin...

91TD Jetta

I was thinking of another solution which isn't the total answer but might work. So I'll put it out there. Put a metering valve on the return line. Then a gage up stream of the valve. They could be mounted on the dash. With a spec. graff showing rpm and p...

I didn't think all 3 copper lugs and the lug on the wire from the glow plug fuse, would be able to stack up on one glowplug and still have room for the nut. Yes that was my first thoughts [and actions] Then I decided to bring a flying lead off # 4 as well  and create a fifth terminal [...
